Pebble Hill Plantation to Temporarily Close in August for Preservation Work; Reopening Celebration Set for August 29

Posted on

Thomasville, GA — Pebble Hill Plantation will temporarily close to the public for tours throughout the month of August as the organization undertakes a series of important preservation and maintenance projects across the historic property.

While the plantation will be closed for regular tours, photoshoots may continue to be scheduled as usual. Pebble Hill appreciates the public’s understanding and support during this brief closure as the team works to care for the buildings, landscapes, and collections that make this treasured South Georgia landmark unique.

Preserving a historic estate of this scale—including the Main House, Stables, and more than 75 additional structures—is an ongoing responsibility. The August closure will allow staff and contractors to complete necessary projects efficiently, ensuring the continued stewardship of Pebble Hill Plantation for future generations.

“We are excited about the opportunity to complete this important work and prepare Pebble Hill for another season of welcoming visitors,” said Whitney White, Executive Director of the Pebble Hill Foundation. “We look forward to celebrating our reopening with the community and sharing the beauty, history, and hospitality of Pebble Hill once again.”

To mark the completion of these projects and welcome visitors back, Pebble Hill Plantation invites the community to a Reopening Celebration on Saturday, August 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Stable Courtyard. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
