Thomasville, GA – The Thomasville History Center will host the next program in the 2026 Bicentennial Lunch & Learn Speaker Series on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the Davis Wing at the Thomasville History Center. The free public lecture will feature Lori Curtis, Curator at Pebble Hill Plantation, presenting highlights from the exhibit Pebble Hill Plantation: A 200-Year Legacy.
Curtis has been a member of the Pebble Hill staff for more than fifteen years and has served as Curator since 2016. Drawing from the current exhibition in the Elisabeth Ireland Poe Gallery at Pebble Hill, Curtis will share photographs, artifacts, and stories that illustrate two centuries of life at the historic plantation and its close connections to the founding and growth of Thomasville.
Currently on view at Pebble Hill Plantation, Pebble Hill Plantation: A 200-Year Legacy explores the people, traditions, and events that shaped the property over the past 200 years. Through archival materials and objects from the plantation’s collections, the exhibit examines Pebble Hill’s evolving role in the history of Thomas County and the broader region. The exhibition will remain open to the public through October.
The Bicentennial Lunch & Learn Speaker Series is a collaborative program presented by the Thomasville History Center, Pebble Hill Plantation, and the Jack Hadley Black History Museum. The series highlights the diverse stories and shared heritage of the Thomasville community as part of the City of Thomasville’s Bicentennial celebration.
Lectures are held at noon on the first Tuesday of select months at the Thomasville History Center. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch and enjoy the presentation; light refreshments will also be provided. All programs in the series are free and open to the public.
The Lunch & Learn Speaker Series is part of a broader slate of Bicentennial-related programs taking place throughout 2026 to commemorate the founding of the City of Thomasville and reflect on its enduring legacy.
